dendrils, 2014
digital projection dimensions variable

this is a rehearsal for part 2/4 of an audio-visual performance at El Museo Cultural de Santa Fe with Elaine Bearer (june 21, 2014). the software is written in processing and is a real-time audio visualizer that was based on some of the work i'd been doing with adam stieg on emergent systems at the UCLA Art | Sci center + California NanoSystems Institute (CNSI). each dendril (dendrite + tendril) that shoots off from the origin is an abstraction of the system's memory of a particular frequency over the duration of the song. every time that a particular frequency is triggered, the dendril grows based on the intensity of the stimulation... and when a frequency is inactive, the dendril slowly recedes. at the end of the song, the audience sees a 3D visual model or memory of the audio performance.
